After leaving McMurray at 2am on Sunday, we drove 10 hours through the night to make it to Tumbler Ridge B.C. in order to play at Grizfest 2010.
We arrived on the Grizzfest site in plenty of time, the roads were great, Tram's (Our mythical beast, part man, part truck= Tram the truck man) deer whistles sent the wildlife running back into the forest....and the hour time change was an extra bonus.
We unloaded all the gear, and went to our hotel to get ready. We got back on site to find out that we got our own trailer! That was a first! Soundcheck seemed to go on forever, and suddenly we were on stage. Our music had been spinning on the radio in the area, and much to our surprise there were quite a few people in the audience!
After our set, we were tearing down the gear, when one of our merch girls care me to let us know that we had better be quick, because there was a lineup for autographs. We finished tearing down, and made our way to the merch tent. As we opened the curtain and went into the tent we heard cheering...it was so cool!
We signed cd's, t-shirts, arms, autograph books, a guitar. Some woman wanted us to sign her baby "...he loves you guys", she said.
After the autograph session we had an interview with "Peace FM" radio in our trailer.
We had a amazing rest of the night at the festival, we met Social Code, watched Nazareth who later gave us their drum mat.
We also watched Marianna's Trench from back-stage. I had been so exited to see them, however when I heard some of their songs I felt really disappointed with their lyrics. NOT COOL to hear tweens screeming "take it like a B*@ch and take it like a w#@re"
Our fist official festival gig had been a GREAT SUCCESS, and we drove home....smiling.
